Data Preservation

About

This page is a collection of resources that replicate and rescue data and information formerly hosted by the US Government.

  • If You are Searching for Missing Government Data
If you are looking for datasets that have already vanished from government websites, please use this guide to identify trusted repositories. This site is regularly being updated.
Important: If you know of additional resources not listed, please email them to orossett@fitchburgstate.edu

  • If You are Using Government Data in Your Courses
If you are using government data in your classes, please notify us as soon as possible by contacting your department's liaison librarian with details related to the datasets you rely on. This will help us prioritize efforts to secure and preserve this information for instructional use.

This guide has been created with the permission of the Salem State University Librarians, who went through the enormous efforts to begin compilling these resources. It will continue to be updated by the Fitchburg State University Librarians. We are sharing the work done by other librarians, archivists, scientists, journalists and data hoarders in an effort to make sure this data is available to our students and faculty, and those who wish to access it. The Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio Library is not hosting any data.

Many researchers are working to save data at risk of disappearing. We appreciate your collaboration in these critical efforts.
