Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day takes place each year on December 1st. The day is an an opportunity for people around the world to unite in bringing attention to the ongoing HIV epidemic, including to increase HIV awareness and knowledge, speak out against HIV stigma, to remember those who have died from AIDS-related illness, and to work towards ending the HIV epidemic worldwide.
