About Interlibrary Loan

About Interlibrary Loan

What is Interlibrary Loan?

A service available to Fitchburg State faculty, staff and students which allows them to request books, articles and media not available at the FSU library.  The Interlibrary loan department locates a library that has the requested material and either borrows the physical item like a book or DVD or receives an electronic copy of an article or book chapter.  NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the lending and borrowing of physical items is limited. The Interlibrary loan department may not be able to find a library to fulfill these requests.

How long does it take to receive the item I requested?

In general, a request for an article or book chapter is filled within 3 days.  Physical items take approximately 5 business days since they are sent through the mail.

Do I have to set up an account?

Fitchburg State users do need to set up an account.  Complete the registration form.

  • When setting up your account, we recommend that you use your Falcon Key as your username and password and your Fitchburg State email.
