Fitchburg State University, in conjunction with Worcester State and Salem State, received a $100,000 grant to participate in the Diversifying the Faculty: Pathways Toward Equity initiative which focuses on the DHE’s explicit priority of equity; specifically using innovative and evidence-based methods to diversify the professoriate. This project furthers the ongoing “big-three” goals of supporting programs that boost completion rates, close achievement gaps, and attract, enroll and graduate students from underserved populations. This initiative proposes to build an Equity & Engagement Consortium of faculty leaders and administrators across the state university system to create practices that account for community engaged work and support a commitment to building and maintaining diversity in the faculty. In turn, this project will transform student success and empower classroom and campus leadership.
