Searching for Books & Poetry

Searching for Children’s and Young Adult Literature in our library.

  1. Access the Library Catalog 
  2. Change the “Limit To” option from “All Materials” to either “Children’s” or “Young Adult” 
  3. Type in a key word for your topic and click the Search button. Note: If you are combining different ideas in your topic, click on the “Advanced” tab and use the Advanced Search instead – here the Children’s and Young Adult limit is located under “Location”. 
  4. Below are two sample library catalog searches.

 

Searching for Children’s and Young Adult Literature in other libraries.

  1. Access the WorldCat Catalog - You can find books and other resources at Fitchburg State and other libraries. 
  2. Click on "Advanced Search
  3. Change the first box from Keyword to "Subject" and type in a key word for your topic.
  4. Change the “Audience” option from “Any Audience” to “Juvenile” and the "Language" option to "English"
  5. Click on the Search button.
  6. For item not at our library, you can use ILLiad to request the item.
  7. Below is a sample WorldCat catalog search and ILLiad request.
